Moody Coliseum sits on the Southern Methodist University campus, and the setting shapes the whole experience. Unlike the big downtown arenas, this is a building where you walk across a leafy campus to reach the doors, and the crowd is a mix of students, alumni, families from the Park Cities and fans from across the Dallas metro. Getting there

The campus lies just north of central Dallas, close to US-75 (North Central Expressway) and Mockingbird Lane. On game nights, traffic around Mockingbird and the expressway ramps can build quickly, especially on weekday evenings when rush hour overlaps with tip-off. A few practical habits help:

• Arrive early. Campus parking fills up, and walking from a garage to the arena takes longer than many first-time visitors expect.
• Consider DART. The Mockingbird Station area is served by light rail, and many fans combine a train ride with a walk or shuttle to campus. Check DART's current routes and service times before you go.
• Check official parking guidance. SMU Athletics publishes event-day parking and entry information, which can change from season to season.

Inside the arena

As a mid-size college venue, Moody offers close views from most seats, and the student section can make a conference game feel loud and intense. Bag policies, ticketing and entry procedures follow university rules, so review the official SMU Athletics site for tickets, clear-bag requirements and any game-specific notices rather than relying on older information.

Making a night of it
